Once we’re out of these April Showers I’m sure there will be plenty of May flowers! While you’re out enjoying the bloom, come on down to The Dairy Godmother to enjoy some Wisconsin-style Frozen Custard! Every day we have Vanilla and Chocolate as well as a special Flavor of the Day, and you can print out a calendar here. The one I’m looking forward to most is Breakfast in Bed, which is maple custard with waffle cone pieces and bacon bits for Mothers’ Day!

Again this summer we’ll have our ever-so-fancy ice pops, in exotic flavours like Elderberry, Mango-Lime, and Blueberry-Lavender-Cream, as well as old standbys like Rootbeer Float and Ginger-Lemon. We are also elated to announce that starting in May we will have the Pop Culture! cart out on Market Square in Old Town Alexandria selling the same pops you find here in the shop! Stop on by and give the prodigious employee manning the cart someone to talk to!

The beginning of summer means one more thing in Del Ray and that’s First Thursdays. All sorts of vendors and events well be out on the Avenue on the first Thursday of each month starting on May 3rd. Check the Del Ray Business Assoc. website for details.

Finally, keep in mind that Memorial Day is on the 28th of May. Please keep the valorous fallen in your thoughts.

Welcome to The Dairy Godmother! Spring is in the air and it’s the perfect weather for some Wisconsin-style Frozen Custard! Every day we have Vanilla and Chocolate as well as a special Flavor of the Day. Look out for the rare and exotic Crunchy Granola flavor on the 22nd of April for Earth Day!

We here at The Dairy Godmother are always trying to keep things fresh and interesting, so as we move into full Spring swing we’ll be offering lots of yummy Sorbets like Lemon Ginger and Blackberry Merlot, as well as many more fancy pops, with flavors like Blueberry Lavender Cream, Mango Cardamom, Arnold Palmer, and Cherry-Hibiscus. We are also elated to announce that starting in May we will have the Pop Culture! cart out on Market Square in Old Town Alexandria selling the same pops you find here in the shop!

This year is the very exciting Centennial of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in and around DC, with a full five weeks of events! The National Park Service says the peak bloom will be from the 24th to the 28th, so come to the Capitol and see the blossoms, then head back to The Dairy Godmother for Cherry Blossom Flavor on the 30th and 31st to get a taste of the flowery trees’ fruity cousins. To print a calendar of all the flavors this month click the Flavor Forecast link.

Please note that we’ll be closed for Easter Sunday through Tuesday April 8-10th, since Liz likes her employees and thinks they deserve a break every now and then.

If you missed an appointment on the 11th, it’s because SPRING IS UPON US!! In addition to the delightful surprises daylight saving time and March weather can bring us, we here at The Dairy Godmother are always trying to keep things fresh and interesting. Right now have some cool treats in honor of St. Patrick’s day, like Irish Flag Pops, a beautiful combination of kiwi, lemon, and mango flavors, and this week we’ll have big tasty loaves of Irish Soda Bread made right here by the Godmother herself, available in the shop first-come-first-served Wednesday through Saturday 14-17th.

The first day of official spring is on a Tuesday this year, so we’ll have Muddy Sneakers flavor, in all its chocolatey, brownyish, pretzely glory, on the 21st and 22nd. This year is the very exciting Centennial of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in and around DC, with a full five weeks of events!
Looking into April, we’ll be closed for Easter Sunday through Tuesday 8-10th.
